About

My name is Bronwyn, and I’m a Canadian expat in Mumbai. I’m hungry for experiences that I haven’t had, meaningful words that I haven’t heard, and food that I’ve never tasted. I love looking for goodness and beauty where none should be found. I am interested in people, behaviour and beliefs: what people believe and what that faith moves people to do, and how it defines their lives.

Mumbai is overwhelming in its rush, its thickness of human life and its assault on the senses. Day to day life in the Maximum city is fascinating, painful, hilarious and inspiring, and comes with its share of challenges for any foreigner who wants to make their home here.

“Bombay is a city in which everything is on broad, public display. Nothing is hidden,” said Suketu Mehta.

Mast life, I’m telling you,” said Sonia Faleiro.

My story is a detail, while this city is enormous and wild and offers as much as you could take. How many million thoughts, text messages and different conversations happen here every day? That said, the smallest details speak the most. This is what I find beautiful about Bombay.

    • Hello Natguo,
Thank you for visiting my blog: you must make a visit to India eventually!
I work for an NGO that focuses on capacity building and education (www.atma.org.in) and also run, eat, cry, dream, love and wonder on a full time basis.

    Mother of Cities to me
For i was born in her gate,
Between the palms and the sea,
    Where the world-end steamers wait.

    • Hello Accidental,

Thank you so much for visiting! I’m so glad you’re enjoying my blog. I am sadly not in Bombay anymore, but I could be back. I hope you like some of the material from earlier days.
